Jalón Valley

The Jalón valley, also known as the 'Vall de Pop', with the river 'Gorgos' or 'Xaló' that flows through the valley and connects the villages with each other. The most inland we find the villages of Benigembla, Murla and Parcent, from Parcent the valley widens and we arrive at the villages of Alcalali, Jalón, Lliber and Senija.

The valley is surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges such as the Bèrnia, Cavall Verd, Serra del Penyal de Laguar and the Coll de Rates. At the foot of these mountain ranges we find the picturesque villages along with one of the most beautiful landscapes in Spain, full of vineyards, olive groves and orangetrees.

Apart from the beautiful surroundings and wonderful climate, the valley is also known for its wines. The Jalon ´bodegas´ produce a delicious Moscatel, as well as some excellent red and white wines. There are various bodegas in the region where you can taste the wines in advance. The wines from the Jalón valley belong to the 'denominación de origen' of Alicante.

Jalón has built a beautiful church in a neo-classical style with its remarkable altar and blue dome. In the square next to the church a market is held every Tuesday and on Saturday´s the famous weekly “rastro” takes place, a flea market with regularly beautiful antique objects.

In the Jalón valley there are beautiful walking routes with historical sights and beautiful viewpoints that are definitely worth discovering!

In short ... the villages in the Jalón valley and its beautiful surroundings are highly recommended!
